ROUND-UP: Tuesday night’s football

Two of our sides drew in their league matches, while one side progressed and one lost heavily in the Integro League Cup.

Oldham Athletic surrendered a two-goal lead for the second successive game as they were held at relegation rivals Scunthorpe United on Tuesday night.

Two goals in as many minutes from Christopher Missilou and Johan Branger - on his 50th appearance for the club - just after the hour mark put the Latics in command.

But the hosts roared back through Matthew Lund and a 76th-minute leveller from Kevin van Veen ensured the points were shared, as Oldham drew 2-2 for the third straight league match - after Plymouth away and Grimsby at home.

Laurent Banide’s side dropped down one place to 21st in the table, two points and two places above opponents Scunthorpe, ahead of Saturday’s crucial home game against the team sandwiched between them - Morecambe.

Elsewhere, in the Integro League Cup, Mossley advanced to the second round as Jes Uchegbulam’s 71st-minute goal earned a 1-0 win against City of Liverpool in Merseyside.

But it was a tough night for 10-man Droylsden, who crashed out of the competition in the first round following a 4-0 defeat at lowly Radcliffe Borough.

All four goals for the hosts came in the first half at Stainton Park, after the Bloods had Andy Langford sent off by referee Ben Wyatt in just the second minute for handling the ball on the goalline and conceding a penalty.

Meanwhile, New Mills secured their first point of the season in the North West Counties First Division South but were denied victory by a late leveller from Cheadle Heath Nomads in a 1-1 draw.

Two new signings started the game at Church Lane in former Mossley duo Adam Jones and Nathan Ntalu, with ex-Curzon Ashton midfielder Ryan Shenton on the bench.

Ntalu was involved in the opening goal for the Millers on 25 minutes as his cross was met by Ed Driver, whose initial effort was saved but he made no mistake with the rebound.

New Mills had further chances to increase their lead but, shortly after having Nathaniel Kerr sent off for dissent, they were made to pay as the visitors equalised on 82 minutes to leave Mike Norton and Dave Birch still awaiting their first win as the Millers’ joint-managers.
