Sign up for virtual run to raise funds for appeal

Fundraisers are being invited to get their running shoes on for a fantastic cause.

The Tameside Virtual Run follows hot on the heels of last month’s Virtual Tour of Tameside and is being held to raise funds for the £1m Tameside Hospital Scanner Appeal.

Organised by the Running Bee Foundation, every penny raised by the Tameside Virtual Run will go to the appeal which aims to raise enough money to buy a new scanner for the hospital and help save lives.

The brand new Tameside Virtual Run allows participants to run a 5K, 10K, half-marathon or full marathon from a location of your choosing.

You can also achieve your chosen distance over a number of runs if you wish, so not having to complete it all in one go!

As long as you’re running your chosen distance and staying safe, the route is really up to you!

Entry for this special event is just £10.

Once you’re done, simply upload a photo of you running or celebrating your big win and that’s it! You’ll even get your own finisher’s medal, just like in a real race!

Amanda Bromley, Director of Human Resources and Lead Director for Health and Wellbeing at Tameside IC NHS FT, said: “We are delighted that the Running Bee Foundation has agreed to donate all profits from its virtual Tameside race to the Tameside ICFT Scanner Appeal.

“As a health and care organisation, we are passionate about physical activity for our staff and the community we serve.

“This is a great opportunity to sign up to a race, get a medal for your efforts, as well as making a very important contribution to our appeal.”

Kevin Harmer, Event Logistics and Sponsor Activation Manager at The Running Bee Foundation, added: “The Running Bee Foundation’s virtual events have proved a great success over this recent period, helping people to keep active and focussed upon the benefits of being active.

“The Tameside virtual race is a great opportunity for runners to choose a distance which they feel comfortable completing – whilst raising money for a fantastic cause.”

To take part just go online and sign up.

Once you’re all signed up you have until August 10 to finish your running challenge.
