A charity football match organised by Stalybridge Celtic Juniors has raised £4,765 for Save the Children.
The game, which took place at Bower Fold on Saturday 19 March, was contested between the club's coaches and parents.
The event was well supported and attracted more than 300 people through the gates, which included the players' family members, friends and the wider community. Attendees were treated to an entertaining game on the pitch, as well as an array of refreshments in Bower Fold Events, including popcorn, candy floss, burgers and chips.
In a bid to generate further funds for the charity, Bower Fold Events held a raffle and also donated a generous amount to the cause.
The game itself ended 4-2 to 'Team Parents'.
The Save the Children Fund, commonly known as Save the Children, was established in the United Kingdom in 1919 to improve the lives of children through better education, health care, and economic opportunities, as well as providing emergency aid in natural disasters, war, and other conflicts.

Stalybridge Celtic's Bower Fold has been a hive of activity this afternoon. Whilst the first team have been playing at Grantham Town in the NPL Premier Division, the stadium has been used to host a charity football match between Stalybridge Celtic Juniors and their coaches. The event was created in a bid to raise funds for Save the Children amid the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. As well as a toy raffle, attendees have also enjoyed some tasty treats, including popcorn, candy floss, burgers and hot dogs, kindly provided by The New Bower Fold Events. We captured some of the action. There will be a report of the afternoon In next week's Reporter.
