Stalybridge Snooker League is well underway

After the George Fletcher and Gordon Clay Trophy Finals on 30th September, the full league programme started on 7th October.

It will run until around March 2022, when the knockout competitions will start and run for a further three months. The league will finish with its Presentation Night and AGM.

The first week saw Mossley B play Staly Vegas, Denton CC play St Peters and Hyde Club play Staly Labour. There were 3-2 wins for St Peters, Staly Labour and Mossley B. In the Whist there were wins for Denton CC and Mossley B. Week 2 saw St Peters play Hyde Club, Staly Vegas host Staly Labour and Denton CC play Mossley B. There were 4-1 wins for Denton CC, St Peters and Staly Vegas and St Peters are top of the league with seven points. In the whist only Denton played Mossley B and won, so they top the Whist League with four Points. 

Week 3 matches saw St Peters play Staly Vegas, Mossley B play Staly Labour and Denton CC play Hyde Club. In the Snooker League, Staly Labour won 3-2 but there were 4-1 wins for St Peters and Denton CC. In the Whist League there was only one match and Denton CC narrowly beat Hyde Club.

Commenting on the latest developments, league secretary Ian Hopton said: "It is very good to be back again and it has been welcomed by all the clubs involved. The league is competitive, whilst giving the players the opportunity to socialise every Thursday.

"The league has a lot of long serving members and some new players have joined this year, but we are always looking for new players to join us."
