Tigers earn a point

Hyde United kept their place at the top of the Northern Premier League after a 1-1 draw away to Macclesfield on bank holiday Monday.

Jack Redshaw's 6th goal of the season put The Tigers ahead on 15 minutes before John Rooney's curled effort levelled the scoring moments later.

Hosts Macclesfield could have won it just before the end when a cross from the right was aimed towards Tom Clare, but the forward could only direct his header wide of the target.

Following the draw, Hyde United manager Nick Spooner was pleased with his side’s performance:

“I thought a draw was a fair result,” Spooner told Hyde United’s YouTube channel.

“We had to work hard for that- it was quite end to end, but the lads dug in and did really well against a good footballing side,” he added.

The draw sees both sides tied on 14 points after six games, with Nick Spooner's men leading the way on goal difference.

Up next for The Tigers is an away trip to FC United of Manchester for their FA Cup first qualifying round tie this Saturday.
