Triple boost for Oldham fans

Oldham have given their fans a triple boost ahead of next season's 25th Anniversary of the 'new' club, formed in 1997.

2022 replica shirts, manufactured by new kit and leisure-wear suppliers Ellgren of Dewsbury, will go on sale at cost price; special merchandise will help fans to commemorate the anniversary; and prices will be slashed in a bargain-basement sale of remaining 2021 stock, with some items down from £45 to £20.

Roughyeds, relegated to League One, were hugely encouraged for the club's future when Oldham Council chief executive Harry Catherall turned up at a meeting of stakeholders determined to promote the future of rugby league in the town.

Chairman Chris Hamilton said the appearance of the local authority's top man was an indication of the Council's interest in the project.

Vice-chairman John Roddy tweeted: "We promised at a fans' forum that we'd bring together key strategic partners for the future of the club and for rugby league generally in Oldham. We couldn't have asked for a better response, especially from Oldham Council."

Pre-season training on Saturday took the form of an exercise on Mount Snowden in North Wales.
