The CEO of the trust that operates Rayner Stephens High School has welcomed news that £1.3 million will be invested in new facilities.
Anton McGrath, CEO of Stamford Park Trust, said that he was delighted by the money.
Tameside Council recently announced that funding for the school had been approved and that work on the improvements should begin over the summer holidays.
The planned improvements to the school include new science laboratories and a suite of six new additional classrooms, including a new drama studio.
The trust say that the additional space will make sure that students at the school will be studying in the best possible surroundings.
There are also plans to improve outside spaces which students use for breaks and lunchtimes, as well as a general facelift to social spaces, classrooms and corridors.
Mr McGrath said: “This is fantastic news and will help us to accelerate the improvements we are making at Rayner Stephens High School. The money provided by Tameside Council will support the development of the site and shows the commitment of both Stamford Park Trust and the Council to make Rayner Stephens a school of choice for parents in Tameside.”
