A monster challenge for Tameside Radio's Scott and James

Tameside Radio Breakfast Show presenters Scott and James have been undertaking a series of challenges to help raise 'Funds for Florence'.

This week, they report on how they've faced up to the challenge so far...

Over the last three weeks, James and I have been taking on a mystery challenge per week as we move ever closer to Taking Flight for Florence on Sunday March 15. Florence is an incredible six-year-old girl who lives in Dukinfield and suffers from a life-limiting disorder known as Gangliosidosis GM1. This awful condition affects her ability to walk and talk and she is not expected to live past the age of then.

Last year, we were joined last year live in the studio by Florence, her mother Jenny, local vlogger ‘The Italian Wolverine’ and Tameside Reporter journalist Tom Greggan. They challenged us to take on the world’s fastest zipwire in Wales to raise money and awareness for Florence and her condition, which we gladly accepted!

Once our very own ‘Evil Bossman’ caught wind of what we were doing, he decided to make the build up a little more... awkward. He has had us doing all sorts! On our first week, we took up a spot of naked cleaning; taking out the bins, cleaning cars and tidying up offices in and around Tameside. For week two, we took a trip to see the guys at The Donkey Sanctuary in Abbey Hey, reading bedtime stories to the donkeys, helping with the mucking out and learning more about our new adopted best mates Henry and Tiny Tim!

For challenge number three, we were joined by our own respective sidekicks as we went head-to-head, taking on 18 holes of action-packed adventure at the biggest dinosaur-themed mini golf in Europe, Dino Falls Adventure Golf in Trafford Park! Not content with being surrounded by the realistic moving dinosaurs, we were joined by our very own prehistoric putters! James named his scaly friend DYLAN, lining up against myself and new Breakfast mascot DOUGAL. The Bossman decided to set an interesting wager – the winner gets to SKIP the upcoming and final challenge this coming Monday!

We after a hard-fought contest over 18 holes... IT WAS A DRAW! We tied 60-60 and will be heading into our final week ready to take on what has been promised as the worst experience yet. You can find out what Challenge 4 is, this coming Monday at 8:10am, live on Tameside Radio.

A huge thanks to our friends at Dino Falls Adventure Golf. Their ‘Kids go Free’ offer is back for Easter! From 30th March to 17th April 2020, one child goes free with each paying adult before 10.30am (Mon-Fri only)! Get there early and make the most of it.
