Our reporter Mark Andrews speaks to Hilson from Action Together
Action Together, a community focused charity, has teamed up with GET Free Books in Hyde to bring local volunteering opportunities closer to residents. Every Wednesday from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm, Hilson from Action Together is stationed at the GET Free Books charity shop in Clarendon Square, ready to chat with anyone interested in making a positive impact in Tameside.
The partnership aims to create a welcoming environment for those curious about volunteering, offering guidance on how they can get involved in community initiatives. Hilson explained that the collaboration not only helps bring awareness to various local causes but also opens the door to anyone eager to give back to their community.
"Whether you’re interested in helping out with community events, supporting local charities, or making a difference in the lives of people in need, Action Together is here to match your interests with opportunities that matter," Hilson said during an interview with our reporter, Mark Andrews.
GET Free Books has been a popular spot for book lovers in Hyde, not only for its range of donated books but also for its commitment to social causes. By hosting Action Together each week, the shop is creating a unique space where residents can enjoy literature and learn about new ways to contribute to the local community.
Residents are encouraged to drop by for a chat, explore the volunteering opportunities available, and discover how they can support the causes close to their hearts. For those who cannot make it to Hyde on Wednesdays, more information on volunteering can be found on Action Together’s website.
This initiative highlights the importance of accessible volunteering pathways, making it easier for Tameside residents to get involved in ways that suit their skills and schedules.
