A local community group is arranging a free convoy to Blackpool, including entry to Blackpool Pleasure Beach, in August.
Reach 4 Change has partnered with Belle Vue Coaches to take 122 residents, including adults and children, from Stalybridge and Hattersley on the trip. Hyde Accessible Transport has also contributed five black cabs for the day to help transport elderly and disabled people.
The trip will be fully funded by the group through local sponsorship and events.
Emma Leyla, who runs the group, said: “We’re all about empowering young people to do more in their local area and break away from problems like mental health, isolation, domestic violence and drug addiction.
“We’re basically trying to tackle a lot of the issues our residents have.
“There’s no criteria for who can come. We want to bring everyone together, from all walks of life.
“We’re hoping to get a sandwich sponsor on board, free entry to the Pleasure Beach but also a free dinner, plus free fish and chips for the adults.”
Lucy Flaherty, another member of the team’s organisers, said: “Since lockdown, a lot of families are feeling isolated and this would be a fantastic opportunity to help our community by providing a day that usually would be impossible down to cost.”
