It was all aboard for family fun at a special free train event held on Saturday.
Around 50 families took part in the Teddy Bears Picnic organised by the friends’ groups at Glossop, Hadfield, Hattersley, and Guide Bridge stations.
Organisers were delighted with the response and we particularly pleased that a Ukrainian boy currently living in the area with his mother and host family was able to join in the experience.
At each of the stations children and teddies were invited to participate in a Find the Bear competition. Sweets and small picnic food items were also available free at each station.
Visitors to Guide Bridge station were welcomed by Postman Pat and Northern Trains new mascot, Whistle the Dog called by Glossop and Guide Bridge stations.
Drivers, guards, and rail staff joined in the fun too with the puppet Sweep saying hello to travellers at the ticket gates at Glossop.
The free travel was kindly organised by Rebecca Styles Northern's area Community and Sustainability Manager.
The aim of the event was to encourage families to use the trains who may not normally do so.
