Willow Wood Hospice is appealing to local companies to make them their charity of the year for 2022.
A number of local companies have worked with the hospice this way during 2021, including Stockport-based Hurst Accountants and Kerry Foods, and the hospice is extremely grateful for their support.
“Kerry Foods have partnered with Willow Wood for a number of years now,” said community and corporate fundraiser Elaine McConnell.
“They have given us fantastic support with their annual fundraising family fun day, and this year sponsored the Firewalk.
“Covering the costs meant that all the sponsorship which was raised by the Firewalkers was able to go directly to patient care - it was a great way to support us.”
Elaine added: “Hurst Accountants chose us as their Charity of the Year this year following a staff vote.
“Trainee accountant Abby Carey nominated us following our care of her mum and they’ve organised a number of fundraisers during the year. They also spent a day volunteering here at the hospice, in a number of our shops and at our distribution centre which was a huge help to us.”
Elaine went on to explain: “If your company is unable to commit to a full year, a corporate volunteering day is an excellent way to show support for a local charity, and can benefit your staff at the same time.
“Coming together to connect with a community project helps to build team dynamics and staff morale, can enhance employee’s self-confidence and increase their motivation.”
Hospice volunteer services manager Lisa Pye added: “At the same time as making a positive difference to the lives of our patients and their families, you are supporting and delivering your corporate social responsibilities.
“Plus, being involved with a much-loved local charity like Willow Wood can raise your company profile, both with your workforce and in the wider community.”
