Armed men steal jewellery and cash after breaking into home in Hyde

Two men armed with weapons broke into a home in Hyde, threatening a mum and her daughter before making off with jewellery and cash.

Greater Manchester Police said they received a report of an aggravated burglary on Walker Lane at around 11pm last Thursday evening (4 August).

Two men, one of whom was carrying a knife and the other a metal bat, entered the property before threatening the occupants in a terrifying ordeal.

They stole one thick gold bangle, five thinner gold bangles and a "quantity" of cash - the amount of which hasn't been disclosed.

As they fled the scene, they dropped some of the bracelets they tried to steal - which are also identical to the ones stolen (pictured).

One of the men is described as white, around 22 or 23 years old with a long face and possibly with a ginger beard. He was also wearing a black face covering with the eyes and mouth cut out.

He was also wearing a black long-sleeved hooded top and black gloves that had the fingertips missing, as well as black 'silky type' sports pants and black trainers. The knife he held was around two or three inches long, with a zig-zagged edge and a black handle.

The second man was smaller and had black clothes on. The bat he held was metal and silver in colour.

Detective Constable Lucy Jones, of GMP Tameside, said: “Thankfully the victims weren’t seriously injured but this was obviously and understandably a disturbing incident and something which they should not have had to experience.

"Our investigation into this incident is ongoing and officers are appealing to anyone with information or footage showing two men in the area at the time, who match this description, to contact us. Likewise if you see or know of any bracelets being sold that match those in the images, please contact us.”

Anyone with information should contact GMP Tameside by calling 0161 856 9262, quoting 3721 of 04/08/2022. Information can also be shared anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
