A charity cycle event has raised cash for the Anthony Seddon charity.

The event, at the Tameside Cycle Circuit, was organised by the Ashton branch of the registered charity Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (HSS UK).

It was attended by Cllr Vimal Choksi and Mayor Tafheen Sharif.

Cllr Sharif said: “The Anthony Seddon Tameside Cycle Fundraiser was a great opportunity for young and old to get on a bike and enjoy the experience and to also consecutively raise vital funds for an amazing mental health charity.”

The Anthony Seddon Centre in Ashton is a peer-support mental health charity that aims to provide a safe space, promote social interactions, and support networks to aid prevention, recovery and management of any mental health issue.

They help those affected by mental health issues and their families.

Cllr Choksi said: “I was delighted to join with the Civic Mayor in supporting this wonderful cause of raising funds for Anthony Seddon mental health charity. Mental health is very important to everyone and to me personally as well. I was glad to join and support the young members of the community. Many young people came along to cycle.”

HSS UK’s ideology lies with the Hindu philosophy of ‘Sewa’, which means selfless service and is one of tthe key values the HSS UK aspires to instil in its members.

Ajay Popat of HSS UK, Ashton branch, said: “The HSS Ashton Centre has been training youths to give something back to the society through Sewa, which has become a regular activity, to support the local charities, help with community centres or engage with our emergency services.”
