Ashton cafe hit by break-in attempt

Intruders attempted to break into Georgie Porgies, situated in King George V Playing Fields in Ashton, this weekend.

The intruders cut though the padlock on the cafe's front gate but were unable to get any further so nothing was taken from the premises.

It is believed that this happened between 5pm on Saturday (09/09) and 8am on Sunday (10/09).

Georgie Porgies does have an alarm and CCTV system fitted.

The public have been urged to call the police if they witness the building’s flood lights flashing, as this means the alarm has been set off.

Friends of King George V Playing Fields had the first launch of a Park Neighbourhood Watch and their first meeting last month.

Alan Fish, Chair of FoKGVPF, said: "This is the third 'first' for Friends of King George V Playing Fields. Luckily they didn't take anything - so as things come in threes, let's hope that's it for now."

If any new Neighbourhood Watchers or anyone else witnessed this weekend's incident, please contact: alan.fish.161te@gmail.com or the police on 101. Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or live chat with the police via ww.gmp.police.uk.
