Ashton school children team up to help Donkey Sanctuary

LOOKING THE PART: The children in their donkey costumes raising money to help the cause.

Youngsters at an Ashton primary school held a special fundraiser for a wonderful cause last week.

Nursery and reception pupils at St Christopher’s RC Primary School held a ‘Donkey Day’ especially to raise money for the Donkey Sanctuary in Abbey Hey.

Diane Diamond, EYFS lead at St Christopher’s Primary School, explained: “We all dressed in grey or brown and we made donkey ears and then completed a sponsored obstacle course.

"We also played pin the tail on the donkey and made split pin donkeys. After school we held a cake and book sale and a guess the name of the donkey teddy."

To date, the school has managed to raise just over £500 with more sponsorship money due in.

Diane added: “The day was a huge success and a huge well done to all the children.”
