Audenshaw school pupil's book to help Ukrainian children

Denton youngster Julia Bugno is already a published author after penning her first book to help raise funds for children from Ukraine.

The Year 3 pupil at Poplar Street Primary in Audenshaw wrote the book while she was on holiday which has been entirely illustrated by her mum Anna.

The book is called The Fairy Family and The Lost Puppy and has been selling for £5, with £2 donated to a charity to help Ukrainian children that have suffered in the war called Sunflower Manchester.

To date Julia has raised £160, selling the book to friends from school, family and at Hyde Festival Theatre, where she was recently in the show ‘There’s No Business Like Show Business’.

She will be selling more copies at her school summer fair soon.

A few copies are left to purchase, with mum and daughter already planning to produce an upgraded copy of the book in English and Polish. The new book will include activities inside for children to enjoy.

Julia has also finished her second book, called The Fairy Family and the Huge Watermelon.

She hopes to publish this in autumn and also raise further funds for Sunflower Manchester. She has started writing her third book which will be called The Fairy Family and Lilly’s Big Adventure.

Although a talented author already, Julia’s biggest hobbies are dance and drama and she is a member of the local BASE Performing Arts.
