Audience members needed for BBC Question Time in Ashton

Question Time will be broadcast live from Ashton-under-Lyne on Thursday September 19, and producers are inviting Tameside residents to join the audience.

Applicants must submit two questions to be considered, which the BBC say will be "completely confidential and only used for the purpose of balance”.

The Ashton episode will be the first in the BBC political show’s new series and takes place in the constituency of new Deputy Prime Minister, Angela Rayner.

Details of the venue are still under wraps, but with Ashton Town Hall being closed it is thought that Dukinfield Town Hall – which has held recent election counts – will be the likely choice.

“We contact applicants on the Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday before the programme,” producers said. “Due to the high volume of requests received we apologise that we are unable to call everyone.

“If you have been in a QT audience within the past five years, we are delighted that you want to do it all over again, but please give others a chance and don't apply this time round. If you have applied before but not been successful, we welcome your application.

“You can also apply by telephone. To do so, call 0330 123 9988.”

The Ashton show is the only one in the upcoming series scheduled to take place in the North West.
