Her passion for helping others to lose weight has seen Lynda Leadbetter recognised with a British Empire Medal.
Beeweighed is a weight loss group with meetings in Denton, Northwich, Haughton Green and Longsight. Lynda founded the group 3 years ago but has 17 years' experience of being a Weight Loss leader.
She supports more than 200 members and earned her British Empire Medal for going above and beyond for them during lockdown.
Lynda added: “I hosted 6 free Zoom meetings a week for the members and an online Friday night book club. By doing this and holding them accountable, members didn’t put any more weight on.
“Many of them were also working from home so the meetings became an anchor in their week and supported their mental health.
“I’m not sure which of the members nominated me for the BEM award but I was definitely shocked by it and humbled.”
She received her BEM at an award ceremony at Tatton Hall and will attend the royal garden party at Buckingham Palace next year.
Beeweighed continues to accept new members, attendees can pay £4.50 a week or purchase 10 weeks for £40.
The sessions include a weigh-in and then a 30-minute talk by Lynda. She also offers a bespoke diet plan created from the NHS calorie guidelines.
