Bloods hoping to bounce back

It’s been more than a decade since Droylsden were classed as the kings of Tameside football.

Following a special rise up the pyramid, the Bloods found themselves competing in the Conference Premier - just one step below the Football League - against the likes of Cambridge United, Burton Albion and Oxford United during the 2007/2008 season.

However, the club’s stint in the top flight was short lived and they were subsequently relegated into the Conference North, for which they spent the next four seasons, before suffering back-to-back relegations.

The Bloods have since failed to recover and with success hard to come by, they are now preparing for a sixth season in the equivalent of step eight.

Dave Pace, who has kept the club afloat through incredibly hard times, will be managing the squad alongside assistant boss Aeon Lattie.

The duo have years of experience at this level of football and will therefore be confident of embarking on a promising season in the BetVictor North West.

The Droylsden faithful will be hoping that this season marks the beginning of the club’s journey back to the throne.

As is customary at the Butchers Arms at this stage of the year, Droylsden are yet to reveal any summer signings as Pace looks to keep his cards close to his chest.
