Boat trips have now returned at Ashton's historic Portland Basin following the easing of coronavirus restrictions.
Tameside Canal Boat Trust have hauled anchor and are operating their iconic boat tours again after being moored since March 2020.
Passengers can now board the 72-foot, 51-seat narrow boat, named ‘StillWaters’
The Trust received no financial support from the government during the pandemic, so feared it might not have a future when businesses re-opened.
Though financial recovery is still far away, the Trust can at least begin to generate income.
Those looking to enjoy a cruise on the canal can book for individuals, families or group hire.
‘StillWaters’ is also available for birthday parties, wedding receptions, office meetings and school groups.
Catering to all kinds of sailors, Tameside Canal Boat Trust is registered as a disability and wellbeing charity.
Their main focus is on providing these exciting trips for disadvantaged community groups.
Boats trips are open every weekend, including bank holidays, and operate throughout the week on alternating days at 12:30pm, 1:30pm and 2:30pm.
