A Tameside music theatre group is looking for young people to help them with a socially conscious podcast project called Hidden.
Made by Mortals, based at Guide Bridge Theatre in Audenshaw, has received funding to create a fictional interactive story, to discover the barriers that young people have faced during the coronavirus pandemic.
More than half a million young people in the UK are now unemployed and have been among the hardest hit by the impact of Covid-19.
Paul Hine, director of Made by Mortals, explained: "Your collective ideas, your experiences and your creativity will all come together to create a story for this interactive podcast experience.
“We will then take this podcast out to different public organisations so that they can see where and how they can play a part in helping young people in the future. Your experiences and contribution will make a huge difference to other young people. And we’ll have a lot of fun too.”
Made by Mortals are looking for young people aged between 16-25, who are from Tameside, and who are not in education, training or employment, to take part in the project. They are also interested in working with young people who have experienced mental health illnesses.
The Hidden episode sessions start on 10 February and will run for eight weeks. The sessions will be delivered online via Zoom. Anyone taking part in the full eight sessions will receive a £75 shopping voucher.
The group will work closely with professional musicians, an actor and a scriptwriter as well as a podcast engineer to create a lively and imaginative interactive podcast.
The Hidden project was launched by Made by Mortals in November 2020, and is an interactive audio experience that challenges people to walk in another’s shoes and question how they can help.
Anyone interested in taking part should contact Jenny at Made by Mortals for more information by emailing Jenny@madebymortals.org or calling 0161 706 1011.
