Work has commenced at Crownpoint this week on its £1.1m car park refurbishment following feedback from visitors.
The car park will undergo a complete transformation over the next 20 weeks, with work including excavating the existing subsurface, relaying the surface and repainting markers. It will also include the addition of a new filter lane to allow for an easier and quicker flow of traffic in and out of the centre.
The centre has put in place several measures to minimise disruption to visitors and the surrounding community. This includes splitting the work into eight phases to allow 75 per cent of the car park to remain open at all times, and the majority of the refurbishment will be completed overnight.
Most notably the work will only occur on weekdays, with the car park expected to return to full capacity over the weekends to cater for busier periods.
Alan Pruden-Barker, centre manager at Crownpoint, said: “The car park refurbishment is set to enhance visitor experience massively. This is something we’re always looking to improve so it’s fantastic we’re able to act on this following initial customer feedback.
“We appreciate the support so far from visitors and the surrounding community and thank them for bearing with us while we carry out these important updates.”
