Carnival fever comes back Denton

Denton Carnival is set to return for the first time in five years this September.

There will be live music, a family funfair and food and drink stalls around the square and in Victoria Park.

Gorton and Denton MP, Andrew Gwynne, who re-formed the Carnival Committee earlier this year, said: “Denton Carnival was known for its colorful parades, lively entertainment and family-friendly festivities.”

“The pandemic made it impossible to organise for the past few years, and it has taken significant effort for the committee to re-establish itself, find volunteers, and get everything in place.

“It’s a monumental task, but the community spirit is stronger than ever!”

The festivities are reliant on volunteers and donations, but according to Amy Howard, the Chair of the Carnival Committee, the community is crying out for its return.

“I was determined to ensure that Denton got its carnival back. I remember coming along as a child and they were such great events!

“I don’t think we really appreciated the amount of hard work that went into the organising and running of the carnival – all by volunteers, too!”

Volunteering positions and stallholder applications are now open, with more informational available by emailing dentoncarnival@yahoo.co.uk
