On Saturday, we had the absolute pleasure of meeting Marjorie, who celebrated her 105th birthday with her friends and family at Denton West Social Club.
Marjorie, who lives in Dukinfield, proudly showed us her birthday cards from King Charles III and the Royal Air Force. Marjorie served as a plotter in the RAF during World War II, so was incredibly proud to receive such a letter to mark her milestone birthday.
Marjorie has been a keen tennis player for most of her life, only halted now by a weakness in her knees, she met her late husband on the tennis court when he challenged her to a game aged 18 years old. Marjorie believes an active lifestyle, is the secret to a long and happy life, she said “always do sport and to never give up, you must do something every day."
The 105 year old enjoys Baileys or a whisky from time to time, but always in moderation, and says that should will eat anything, except pasta, coconut and vinegar.
Marjorie’s reflected on a happy life with tales of holidays to the Isle of Man, and to Jamaica to visit her brother.
Happy 105th birthday, Marjorie!
