Celebrating local heros at the Cristal Awards

Tameside council and Greater Manchester Integrated Care hosted the annual Cristal awards, (which stands for Celebrating Remarkable and Inspirational Stars, Teams and Leaders) on Friday at Dukinfield Town Hall

The awards celebrate those who work within local care homes and domiciliary services across the community. 

Notimations were made by local residents and families across the local area in appreciation for those stars who go the extra mile in the care sector and deliver high quality and professional care.

The night was glamorous and began with drinks on arrival, followed by the award ceremony. The awards were split into eight categories and were presented by executive members of Tameside council and key figures in Greater Manchester’s integrated care partnership’s team. 

An independent judge panel chose the winners for each category: 

The first award, presented by the Leader of Tameside Council, Cllr Ged Cooney,  was the ‘Celebrating Personalisation’ award and this was given to the whole team at The Beeches Care Home in Dukinfield:The second award, presented by Mandy Philbin who is the Chief Nursing Officer for Greater Manchester Integrated Care, was the ‘Remarkable Quality’ award. This was given to clinical lead, Mohammad Ghoorun from Tameside Supported Housing Services, Richmond Fellowship:The third award, presented by Cllr John Taylor, was the ‘Inspirational and Innovative Practice’ award which went to service manager Kaya Bainbridge from Tameside Supported Housing Services, Richmond Fellowship:

The forth award, presented by Cllr Eleanor Wills, was the ‘Shining Star’ award which was divided into two. The Domiciliary Care,award was won by support worker Katie Hayward from Creative Support:For the Care Home Shining Star award, Susan McDermott took home the award:The fifth award, presented by Cllr Denise Ward was also split into two. For Domiciliary Care, the whole team at Tameside Supported Housing Services, Richmond Fellowship won the ‘Transformational Team’ award:

For Care Home, the full team at the Lakes Care Centre in Dukinfield won the same award:

The sixth award, presented by Michelle Walsh, the Associate Director of Nursing Quality and Safeguarding at Greater Manchester Integrated Care was the ‘Achivement in the Workplace’ award. This was won by Senior Practitioner Shannon Coffey from the Richmond Fellowship:

The seventh award, presented by the Director of Adult Services at Tameside Council, Steph Butterworth was the ‘Leading the Way’ award which was divided into two. For Domiciliary Care, the award went to Director, Shahid Farooq from Sam’s Helping Hands in Oldham:For Care Homes, the award went to Senior Care Assistant, Rachel Beswick from Daisy Nook House:

The last award of the night was the ‘The Diamond Award’ which was presented by the Chief Executive of Tameside Council and Placed Based Lead for GM Integrated Care Tameside, Sandra Stewart.  The Diamond Award for Domiciliary Care went to the full team at Creative Support:

For Care Homes, the prestigious award went to Nicola O’Donovan from the Oakwood Care Centre in Stalybridge: 

The night progressed to a buffet, a raffle, a bar and celebrations from all the nominees and winners of the night.
