There will be a ceremony this weekend to remember two police officers killed in the line of duty in Hattersley nine years ago.

On 18 September 2012, Police Constables Nicola Hughes, 23, and Fiona Bone, 32, were killed by Dale Cregan in a gun and grenade ambush while responding to a hoax burglary at Abbey Gardens in Hattersley.

On Saturday, the anniversary of their deaths, people are being invited to go to library entrance of The Hub on Stockport Road at 2pm to take a moment to reflect and remember them.

There will be speeches and the laying of flowers, as well as refreshments.

It's been organised by the Hattersley and Mottram Community Forum.
