Tameside Rotary have paid for a special lunch at Portland Basin for members of Stalybridge St George's Church Dementia Café.
The Dementia Café usually meets on the first and third Fridays at St George’s Church, Stalybridge, for dementia sufferers and their families and friends to enjoy a lunch together and an activity.
The lunch is a welcome break for carers and a change of scene for dementia sufferers. Sometimes the café puts on music and movement activities, or plays people’s favourite songs for a sing-a-long.
However, the group recently enjoyed a special treat to Portland Basin Café, courtesy of Tameside Rotary.
Chris Crabtree and Lynn Moon, who are the main organisers at the Dementia Café, said all the people who normally attend had a wonderful time and they are truly grateful for the donation.
Tameside Rotary hope to sponsor the group’s Christmas party.
Tameside Rotary President Mohammed Karim and Community Chair John Moon said they were very pleased that the event went so well.
