On-site construction has begun for Exemplar Health Care's new £6.6m specialist care home on Holden Street in Ashton-under-Lyne.
Exemplar Health Care is a leading provider of specialist nursing care for adults living with complex needs. The development will be led by Yorkshire-based contractor Walter Thompson.
Construction started at the new home in April 2023. Once complete, the new home - which will be called Acer Mews - will support adults living with acquired brain injuries, complex mental health needs, dementia and physical disabilities.
The home will be split into two, 14-bed communities - as small group living provides a more homely, supportive and responsive care environment - and each of the 28 bedrooms will have its own en suite wet room.
The home will also have communal dining and living spaces, sensory bathrooms, an activities hub, a large accessible garden and a dedicated therapy room offering a full holistic approach to the service users with therapeutic care and support led by the Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist.
Acer Mews is set to open in early 2024 and will create 100 new healthcare jobs in the local area, including Health Care Assistants, Registered Nurses, Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists. Recruitment is due to start this summer, and candidates can register their interest online at: https://www.exemplarhc.com/care-homes/acer-mews.
Sam Cotton, Commissioning Manager at Exemplar Health Care, said: "We are delighted to announce the commencement of construction for Acer Mews, our £6.6m specialist care home in Ashton-under-Lyne.
