Tameside Markets believe they've cooked up the perfect recipe to add some spice to life in Stalybridge town centre.
Foodie Friday, which launches on July 23, is a new event which will take place around Armentières Square on the second Friday of every month from 5-9pm.
Organised in partnership with the Market Co, who have helped the council stage the successful artisan market in Ashton, it will feature around a dozen traders supplying a variety of food and drink to suit all tastes, and against a background of live entertainment.
Cllr Eleanor Wills, who is leading the project, said: “Stalybridge Foodie Friday is a great idea and yet another example of how we’re welcoming people back into our town centres. It’ll bring new life to the area and to the benefit of neighbouring businesses.
“Armentières Square, overlooked by the civic hall and Holy Trinity Church, with the Huddersfield Canal running through it, is a perfect setting for people and families who want a relaxed start to the weekend while enjoying some delicious food and a drink.
“I’m sure Foodie Friday has all the ingredients to be a great success.”
Denise Valente, director of The Market Co, added: “We are absolutely thrilled to be working with Tameside Council’s markets’ team to deliver Stalybridge Foodie Friday.
“We’re determined to bring the very best street food heroes and local musicians to make Stalybridge Foodie Friday spectacular and something everyone can enjoy.
“This family-friendly community event is for those with a penchant for good food, good drink, good music and good friends.”
