Dukinfield is counting down the days to one of its biggest dates in the calendar as the town prepares to host the Made In Manchester Festival Dukinfield.
The day will be packed with music plus fun for all the family. The event is also being held in memory of one of the area’s most loved and respected musicians, Keith Halligan.
Keith was a popular teacher, musician, and audio and visual engineer around Tameside, and valued member of his local running club.
His death last year shocked everybody who knew him both locally, and in the music world.
The first Made In Manchester Festival of 2023, which will take place in the grounds of Astley Sports Village in Dukinfield, on Saturday 27 May, is to be held in his memory.
The touring all-day family-friendly festival will, as always, feature some of the UK’s greatest tribute bands, including The Oasis Experience, ‘Appy Mundays, These Smiths, Laid (the sound of James), Courtbetweeners, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Carpets, and The Take That Experience.
Alex Spencer will also be performing, along with other great local musicians Scotty Dunning and Chloe Jones.
One of the highlights of the day though will be a live performance by The Capitals, the band in which Keith Halligan was a member alongside his son George.
As well as a kids zone, funfair, VIP area, stalls, bars and food, there will be a dance tent, hosted by legendary Mancunian MC Tunes featuring Danny B, DJ Walsh, Chris J Frater, Lewis Barlow, Con Martin, and Mike Lee.
The Made In Manchester festivals, organised and run by local promoter Rob Brierley and his wife Natalie, are always brilliant days, which also raise funds for local causes, with money raised at this next event going to Cancer Research UK.
Tameside Radio’s very own Dave Sweetmore will be DJing on the main stage, and as always it promises to be a great weekend for music fans and the local economy.
It will also be the memorial eThe event is sponsored by Premier KIA.
‘Amazing Times, Amazing Music, and Amazing Memories’ is the strapline for the Made In Manchester music festival brand, and this event, in memory of such a great man, will no doubt be exactly that.
