Crowbar thug steals councillor's bike during burglary

A Denton councillor had his mountain bike stolen during burglary in the early hours of Sunday September 15.

Cllr George Newton, who has represented Denton South for Labour since 2016, disturbed a crowbar wielding thief breaking into his house on Greendale Grove in Haughton Green.

"They were using a crowbar to open the back door and then left on my bike when I got there,” he said in a Facebook post.

“He cycled out onto Haughton Green Road by Morrisons and then turned left towards St Mary’s. Happened this morning (Sunday 15 Sept, approx 6am). If anyone has any CCTV or Ring doorbell footage I would appreciate it.”

The missing bike is a 2019 Boardman ADV 8.8 with a silver and black aluminium frame, while there are blue flashes on the chain stays.
