Denton is to get a new Aldi store

A new Aldi store will be opening its doors in Tameside, it has been confirmed.

The supermarket chain has announced plans to bring a new store to Crownpoint North Retail Park in Denton, which will create up to 40 jobs.

Construction is set to begin this summer, with a view to the store opening later in 2021.

It will become the fourth Aldi store in the borough, adding to the existing supermarkets on Wellington Road in Ashton (pictured), Great Norbury Street in Hyde and Leech Street in Stalybridge - while there are others just outside the borough in Glossop, Failsworth, Gorton and Stockport.

An Aldi spokesperson said: “We will begin construction of our new Crownpoint, Denton store in the summer and plan to open the store later this year. This will create up to 40 jobs and enable local people to shop and save closer to home.”

It's part of the German discount chain's long-term expansion plans, with the aim of having 1,200 stores across the UK by 2025.
