Members of the Friends of the Tame Valley group joined with students from St Anne’s Primary in Denton, to sow wildflower seeds at Jet Amber Fields.
The area is part of the patch looked after by the group and was given a new lease of life with flowers set to bloom in time for Spring.
Volunteers were joined by Denton and Reddish MP Andrew Gwynne, as well as local councillors Allison Gwynne and Denise Ward. The wildflower seeds used for the event were donated by Suez UK, a major recycling company with a base in Denton.Andrew Gwynne, local MP and Friends of the Tame Valley Secretary, said: “It was a pleasure to join some of my Friends of the Tame Valley colleagues, alongside pupils from St Annes, to give the fields a sprucing up.
“It was great to see such enthusiasm from the pupils, who were a credit to their school community, showing a real care and attention to the local environment. “I also want to thank SUEZ UK for their generous donation of wildflower seeds, supporting the efforts of local volunteers. “ Steve Martin, Friends of the Tame Valley committee member, said: “Over the spring, summer, and autumn, it has been great to involve local children in wildflower seed sowing. “We hope we have encouraged the next generation to appreciate our lovely Valley.”
