Diamond dancers in Hyde

A couple from Hyde say the secret to their success of 60 years of marriage is to just "keep dancing".

Les and Margaret Allen celebrated their Diamond Wedding Anniversary at their home in Gee Cross, Hyde, last Thursday, alongside family and friends who attended a special lunch thrown in their honour.

The couple first met at The Ritz in Manchester, and their love of dancing has been a prominent fixture in their married life, having taken a number of medals and accolades for their fancy footwork.

They still dance now, even continuing to do so during what one family member called “the darkest times” - when Les was diagnosed with bowel cancer three years ago.

He has since been given the all-clear, with doctors urging the couple to carry on what they have always done best.

They were delighted to receive a card from Her Majesty the Queen, who congratulated them on their long marriage.
