The Dipak Dristi offer mind stimulating and creative activities including arts and crafts, music, dance, storybook and games. These activities help the members to develop confidence, value themselves and to maintain / improve their memory.
They offer yoga / chair-based exercise to promote a healthy lifestyle and wellbeing. They invite guest speakers that give talks on healthy lifestyles and provide a light lunch taking into consideration about a healthy diet. The Dipak Dristi community group, founded in 2017 by Champaben Mistry, has grown from a small group of 6 members to a vibrant community organisation now serving 35-40 members weekly.
The group was initially established following Champaben's personal experience of isolation after losing her husband. Recognising the challenges faced by many widows in the community, she created Dipak Dristi (which translates to "Light of Focus") to provide support and purpose
The group recently won the King's Award for Volunteers, which they were delighted about. We collected over a 150 items, which we delivered directly to the Family Hub in Ashton under Lyne.
A huge thanks on behalf of Action Together!
