Murdered Tameside Police Constable Nicola Hughes’ father has accepted a donation in her memory.
The Rotary Club of Saddleworth offered to make a donation to a charity of the team’s choice following the Lees Neighbourhood Policing Team's (NPT) presence at the annual Saddleworth Wellifest held at Well-i-Hole Farm.
The team had no hesitation in choosing the PC Nicola Hughes Memorial Fund, and her father Bryn Hughes attended Saddleworth Police Station on behalf of the charity.
Sergeant Brook said: “It is our privilege to have this donation made to the PC Nicola Hughes Memorial Fund.
“The donation is made in honour and tribute to colleagues tragically taken from us in the line of duty.”
PCs Nicola Hughes and Fiona Bone, who were based at Tameside, were murdered on duty by Dale Cregan in 2012.
The Saddleworth-based PC Nicola Hughes Memorial Fund was set up in 2014 to provide assistance to anyone under 21 years old who has suffered the loss of a close family member through violent crime, by providing funding or services for education or employment.
The charity continues to support young people suffering from the devastating effects of fatalities resulting from serious and violent crime.
