Driver banned and jailed

Tameside magistrates have banned a driver from the road for almost five years and jailed him for 18 weeks.

Ion Lefter pleaded guilty to failing to provide a specimen of breath when required to do so in Ashton on June 9.

He also admitted to driving without insurance cover and other than in accordance with his licence.

Magistrates jailed him, stating the offence was so serious because of his previous record of offending.

He was banned from the road for 56 months and must also pay £160 court costs and a victim surcharge of £128.

The 38-year-old’s address was given as Huxley Street, Broadheath, Oldham.
