Dukinfield's Morrisons store launched a new charity initiative on Valentine's Day to raise money for children's hospices.
To mark the launch, the store’s Community Champions were joined by the Civic Mayor of Tameside Cllr Janet Cooper and her consort, plus pupils from Gorse Hall Primary School in Stalybridge, who sang and shared a poem.
The fundraiser is part of a nationwide initiative as Morrisons marks the launch of its partnership with ‘Together for Short Lives’.
The charity supports UK’s children’s hospices and families facing the heartbreak that their child will die young.
In Dukinfield, all money raised over the next two weeks for the ‘Butterly Bonanza’ will be donated to Francis House Hospice, and a representative from the hospice also attended the event.
Becky Teeney, Community Champion, said: “We would like to thank everyone who came along to support the launch and we are very excited to help raise vital funds and know our local community will support us.
“Our Butterfly Bonanza will be on in-store for the next two weeks with raffles, items to buy and colouring competitions.”
