Fire crews have been tackling a blaze, understood to be at a fast food takeaway in Ashton.
Firefighters and paramedics were at the scene on Saturday morning (14 May) on Smallshaw Lane.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said seven fire engines and several specialist and support appliances attended at around 8.15am.
The fire involved the external ducting and roof space of a mid-terraced commercial property, a spokesperson said.
Crews used six breathing apparatus, two jets, one ultra-high pressure lance and an aerial ladder platform to extinguish the fire.
GMFRS said the fire is under control and firefighters are still on scene tackling remaining hot spots.
One person was checked as a precaution by North West Ambulance Service but no injuries have been reported.
Smallshaw Lane was closed at its junction with Ladbrooke Road for more than two hours whilst emergency services responded.
