Volunteers from the Kinder Mountain Rescue Team (MRT) joined a five-hour operation to save a pair of stranded walkers on Wednesday.
According to rescuers, one of the hikers had suffered ‘a medical episode’ in Etherow Country Park, with both becoming stuck at the bottom of a steep slope above the river.
Working alongside fire and ambulance crews, the 27 MRT members set up the rope rescue system that hauled the duo back to the top of the slope.
A spokesperson for the MRT said: “Once recovered the pair were transported to the waiting ambulance.
“Kinder Mountain Rescue Team is staffed by volunteers who give their time free of charge and is funded entirely by public donations.”
Despite only being three weeks into the new year, the Kinder MRT has already been called out nine times in 2025, clocking a combined 867 volunteer hours.
