The latest Fiver Fest initiative to support local independent businesses is up and running in Ashton.
The initiative is a chance for independent businesses to use their collective power to encourage people into their town centres and to prove once again, that the small guys can compete with the online giants and the supermarkets.
Chair of Ashton Town Team, Kevin Taylor BEM, said: “People have had some really challenging increases this year in energy and food prices so any promotion like Fiver Fest is valuable not only to the businesses but for shoppers too.
“One of the key things with this promotion is it only applies to our local, small independent businesses and it provides a great opportunity for you to give them your support.”
Val Unwin, from Decisions ladieswear in Fletcher Square, Ashton, said: “This is a great event for independent businesses with many taking part.
“If people spent £5 a week in their independent businesses, it would make a massive difference to people’s towns.
“So we would like everyone to come along and support their small independent businesses and help to make a difference.
Organised nationally by Totally Locally, the campaign encourages everyone to continue supporting independent businesses, pointing out that if everyone spent just £5 each week with such businesses, it would help inject many millions of pounds back into local town centres, helping them thrive again.
The Fiver Fest runs until March 25.
