Football club steps in to help local choir

Curzon Ashton Football Club came to the rescue to ensure that a local choir could sing together in person for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic began.

There's been no live singing for choirs during the pandemic due to the restrictions.

Tameside’s Monday Mondays choir were getting increasingly desperate to find some practical way they could meet outside - and that's when Curzon Ashton stepped in.

The football club welcomed the choir to socially distanced outdoor rehearsals under their covered stand at the Tameside Stadium.

David King, choir director, said: “It was really good of Curzon Ashton to let us sing together in person, for the first time since March 2020. We had a fab time meeting up again and singing some old favourites alongside some football inspired numbers.

"It was such fun, and we were really impressed with and grateful to the club.”
