Former Miss Tameside to compete in pageant for charity

Dukinfield resident and the 2010 winner of Miss Tameside Leanne Nuttall has been preparing to compete in the prestigious Miss United Kingdom pageant this September, where she will be representing Manchester.

The event in question is the Miss United Kingdom Endeavour national pageant, which will take place on September 2nd in Warrington.

The event states that it is 'a fully inclusive national pageant system welcoming contestants from all walks of life regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, ability/disability and welcomes members of the LGBTQA+ community'.

Leannes’ journey to the event started back in March 2023, when she won directors choice at a charity pageant in Warrington.

Speaking about the event, Leanne said: “At the end of the day it gives you a platform and a voice to support those who may not have that opportunity.”

After the pageant, one of the judges told her that she should enter for the pageant in September and since then Leanne has been working hard to best prepare for the event.

The round Leanne has been entered for is known as an 'Endeavor' round – these rounds are meant to be about defining what makes a contestant uniquely themselves.

For the round, Leanne has met up with local dance company Academy HQ to help her create a unique dance routine in a bid to wow the judges.

In the run up, Leanne has been working with many companies to help raise their profile and has worked with various cancer charities.

“I am really excited to see where this journey to the Endeavour crown takes me, I have enjoyed getting out and about and meeting new people and helping to support various charities," Leanne said, "I like to keep things as local as possible."

Leanne gave a particular shout out to the hair and makeup artist Eden Studios of Ashton.

She said: “I would like to thank everyone that has supported me so far on this journey, especially Kellie Mae, without her support I wouldn't have been able to compete.”

The charity Streetz CIC is also on board with Leanne for this event, with Leanne aiming to raise as much as possible for the organisation.

Streetz CIC is an organisation whose purpose is to empower and support disadvantaged young adults.

The organisation has worked closely with the pageant in the past and is grateful for the support they receive from pageant contestants.

The amount of support and responsibility for businesses Leanne has going into this pageant on the 2nd is of high significance, as she said: “I understand the importance of being a title holder and the responsibility it entails; I am ready to grasp this opportunity with both hands.”
