Friends of the Tame Valley host Spring Clean

Friends of the Tame Valley held a successful spring clean event in Jet Amber Fields last Sunday, with bags of litter and tipping removed around Dunkirk Lane Car Park, the river path and Peak Forest Canal.

FoTV was formed in 2021 by local members of the community with the help of Denton and Reddish MP Andrew Gwynne. It has been a huge success, with sister groups popping up across Tameside and surrounding areas.

The group regularly holds clean-up events, collaborates with local employers for volunteer days and holds planting days to enhance the local environment.

Chris Clarke, a committee member of FoTV, said: "It was great to see a good turn out for this year's first clean-up event. Lots of rubbish was removed and the area once again looks much better."

MP Gwynne added: "A huge thanks to all the fantastic volunteers who took time out of their Sunday. It was a brilliant and productive turnout, as the bags and bags of litter demonstrate! If you want to get involved with FoTV, please do. It's so inspiring to see what community spirit is achieving here in Tameside."
