The old mill in the centre of Ashton will now be transformed into 18 new apartments.
What is now known as Good Hope Business Centre currently consists of separate retail and commercial units as well as a place of worship. Now planning permission has been approved, it will become home to 18 one-bedroom flats and studios.
All the homes at the Cross Street site will be available for social and affordable rates (up to 80 per cent of market value).
A few external changes will also occur during construction and some on-street parking would be available for residents when they move in, the panel was told.
No objections have been raised with Tameside Council for the plans put forward by developers PTNM Limited. The applicant stated that the building was originally part of a large leather manufacturing establishment whose original mill, now converted to apartments, stands to the south.
The application was swiftly approved by the panel.
