A man has been arrested after police uncovered suspected drugs and a live gun from a house in Hollingworth.
Officers found a man wanted for drugs offences at a property on Green Lane, shortly before 5am on Thursday morning (20 January).
After the man was arrested, police discovered a live firearm, ammunition, a silencer, a kilo of cocaine, and a kilo of cannabis.
The 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply and possession of a section 1 Firearm. He remains in police custody for questioning.
Detective Constable Jake Orr, of GMP's Tameside Challenger Team, said: "We are committed to reducing crime in Tameside, and today's action is only a small percentage of the work our officers are doing to tackle drug distribution and keep our community safe.
"Weapons and drugs have no place in our community and have the potential to cause a great amount of harm and, ultimately, it is an issue that could cost someone's life.
"I would also encourage anyone with information into criminal activity in your area to get in touch with us as soon as possible."
Police say those with information or concerns in their area can report them online, if able, at www.gmp.police.uk or call 101. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
