A nurse from Hadfield went "above and beyond" raising funds to renovate Tameside Hospital's neonatal family room.
Katie Hanwell raised £1,864 to transform the area into a "more comfortable" environment for parents whose children are in the care of the unit.
The mum-of-four's efforts included organising a charity Valentine's Ball, through which she secured the support of 73 local businesses, who generously donated prizes for the event's raffle.
Katie graduated from university in June 2022 and has worked at the Tameside-based hospital ever since.
Her aunt said: "She's just so thoughtful, if she sees something that needs doing she'll do it right away. She really has a heart of gold, and doing all that while juggling her family life - she really went above and beyond."
The sum raised will be dedicated to buying new beds for the families before then adding more 'cosy' touches to the room.
"It's the last place [the families] want to be," her relative added.
"She just wanted them to feel more at home while they're in such an awful place, she took it upon herself and has been working on this for a good few months."
