Hard work rewarded for dedicated NHS ‘heroes’

Hard work and dedication has seen two valued NHS colleagues receive Who’s Your Hero Awards recently by Tameside Hospital’s chief executive.

School Nurse Sarah Beetham was presented with the accolade for being invaluable to the School Nursing Service.

The pride she takes in teaching skills to new staff has led to her being described as a “lynchpin” of the service by her colleagues.

Vicki Williams is a Child Health Protection Team Support Officer who recently joined the Children’s Community Health Services, a newly established team at Tameside and Glossop NHS Foundation Trust.

People who work with her say she has helped things get up and running as smoothly as possible with her ideas and willingness to share her wealth of experience.

Vicki’s team (pictured) say she doesn't truly appreciate how much they value her but, hopefully, this award will change that.

Trust chief executive Karen James OBE who presented them with their awards said both Sarah and Vicki have been nominated by colleagues for their willingness to share their energy, kindness and expertise with their teams.

She added; “ The people who you work with know you best.

“They see you day after day when things are going well and when challenges arise, and if you can impress whatever the situation then you truly are deserving of the accolade hero."
