Haughton Green primary school shines in Ofsted report

SUCCESS: Staff and pupils at St John Fisher celebrating the Ofsted report outcome.

A Haughton Green primary school is celebrating after being graded 'good in all areas' in its recent Ofsted report.

St John Fisher RC Primary School was judged as a ‘good school’ after an inspection in early March.

The inspectors recognised the Manor Road school has 'significantly improved' since its last inspection in 2018, where the school was graded as 'require improvement'.

The report commented that relationships between pupils and staff are "strong", recognising the fantastic work the school does to support the emotional health and wellbeing of all the children.

Looking at the school’s curriculum, Ofsted inspectors praised leaders for its design and the quality of professional development given to staff, saying: "Leaders have planned a broad and ambitious curriculum for all pupils that is well-designed and supports pupils to know and remember more important subject content.”

The report also recognised the importance the school places on supporting the most vulnerable children, it states "all pupils, including those with SEND, receive a wide range of effective additional support".

Head teacher Mandy Harris said: “It is fantastic that Ofsted have recognised what a great school St John Fisher is and how far we have come in the past few years. We pride ourselves on being a family and all our children have a real sense of belonging.

"The report highlights the excellent standard of education, care and support the children receive. The dedicated staff, governors, parents and wonderful children make St John Fisher a truly special place."
